Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created and you will renew the face of the earth.

Let us pray.

O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations. Through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen

This prayer is written on my heart and today I experienced it in surrounding me in the hearts of a church of faithful (man 😉 ) and women.

Today was a gift of the Holy Spirit and I am grateful!!

I went to Cornerstone TV to tape the Real Life interviews (which will be aired next week Wednesday!) and left there with an entire day for the Lord to be creative in Pittsburgh! And boy was it a surprise blessing!

Romans8 28When I got off the plane the night before I was met by a gentle giant named Damon. He worked for Cornerstone and was my ride to the hotel. Immediately we made what I’d call a ‘Holy Spirit’ connection. For the 40 minute ride we were sharing our testimonies and his encouragement in God’s Word was exactly what I needed to ease the nerves and to prepare to do what God was calling me into the next day.

Damon showed up for the interview to intercede in prayer for me. Knowing he was praying on the sidelines as the interview took place was a blessed comfort. When we were finished he was to take me to lunch and to the hotel. After lunch he tentatively asked if I’d be interested in attending prayer meeting with him at his church that day.

How could I resist a few hours of prayer? 😀

Damon and the Cornerstone ride!

Damon and the Cornerstone ride!

I walked into the sanctuary and was immediately welcomed and with a little introduction of who I am and what I was in Pittsburgh for, we went straight into intercessory prayer.

Time flew. We were worshiping and before I knew it the pastor was introducing me again to the prayer warriors that had entered in later. She said she felt a stirring of the spirit to bless the ministry, that this small congregation who is in need of their own tithe wanted to give Hopeful Hearts Ministry an offering!

gifts of the Holy SpiritOne of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is Awe & Wonder and they succeeded. I was in awe of their obedience and generosity. Tears flowed and then they laid hands over me and gave me an anointing of prayer with an extra gift – a prophesy.

This I will hold dear to my heart… I trust in You, Lord. I trust in You.

I came to Pittsburgh to be a vessel for the Lord and in return I received an abundance of His anointing love and blessings because I said ‘yes’ to pray.

Amen amen amen!!!

Blessings

Are You Defined by Faith or Religion? (Day 222)

It’s day 222! Thank you Jesus and all the angels and saints in heaven. 😉

On the way home this afternoon I heard a muffled noise coming from the backseat. When I turned around I saw that it was Seth listening to something on his headphones. I made a gesture for him to pause it to ask.

“It’s Paul Harvey, An Open Letter from God,” he said.

Paul Harvey? I thought to myself. I loved Paul Harvey growing up. It brought back listening in the car with my dad and anxious to get through the boring news to the ‘Rest of the Story’. “How do you know about Paul Harvey?” I asked.

“That Ford commercial, the one about the farmers,” he said. Interesting. So I took the time to find Paul Harvey’s Open Letter from God and listen.

Paul Harvey’s Open Letter From God:

It touched a chord with me today. Growing up I was Catholic by blood now I’m Catholic by internal desire. I broke away from the Catholic faith, from my family’s traditions and beliefs and even from other Christian faiths that I’d experimented with during my high school and college years because I harbored a great amount of anger towards God…and in that same breath of anger a great desire and longing to be accepted by Him – God. To feel what it was supposed to feel like to be His beloved.

When I came to a place in my late twenties that lent to making a choice, a choice of internal spiritual death (which lent to an absences of life that led me to not want to live in this world) or to give faith – belief in God – spirituality – all of the above – a shot, I was awakened by what I can only explain it to be as the Holy Spirit.

From that point on my main call in life was to love others, to do my best not to judge ( because I was the last person to judge) and live my life in a way that would make sure I went to heaven so I could feel the glory I felt in that moment I had on that fateful day back in 2001. Along my journey I knew I needed a ‘religion’ to keep me fed and God specifically called me into where I had been called all along – my Catholic faith.

But I don’t buy into ‘one religion is better than another’ nor do I appreciate the fall out I get from being Catholic by my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ of other denominations. For this reason, I enjoy this message from Paul Harvey.

It is important to take a step back and remember what we are called to do by God and that is to love. To take care of one another and be a support to all.

Listening to this with the boys led to some wonderful conversation. I’d like to hear what YOU have to say. How does this message speak to you?

Blessings Shannon

The revisiting of my journey last week wasn’t to torture through a recap. I wanted to give you an ‘insight’ into my soul emotionally and spiritually during the filming of the I HAVE A VOICE project. I had all intents on focusing mainly on my journey through overcoming what I went through in high school and college but that isn’t where the Holy Spirit led me.

During the 1.5 hours of conversation that was filmed the Infinitude Creative Group cleverly pieced together this 6 minute I Have a Voice video that I believe accurately gives the ‘young Shannon in me’ a voice. Greatest moment of all was having the ‘one person’ (because I always say, “If it can reach out to one person and make a difference then what I went through to do it is worth it.”) already come to me and open up about something that had been kept up in the dark for over 30 years.

Praise God!

As she listened and watched the video (for I had no idea what lie beneath her own darkness) she hemmed, hawed, agreed out loud and then was silent. And then the story came out. “I never felt like anyone would believe me because he was so nice,” she said. ”And what difference does it make now because I’m so old.”

But it does make a difference because she matters.

If you feel so inclined please share the video. Both I Have a Voice videos released are on my YouTube channel and the I Have a Voice Channel.

Two more videos to come (focusing on other issues)…so grateful to God for the opportunity to spread awareness. It is clear God wants us to step out of the shame of darkness of the things that have been done to us and that we’ve fallen into and into the light of His love and grace.

You are not alone on this journey to heal from old wounds. Reach out and contact Hopeful Hearts Ministry, we are here to help guide you in the direction you need to receive support and restoration.

Blessings

Shannon
